In December, AP Professionals was named the number one best place to work by the Phoenix Business Journal in our category. Check out the below write up that we were able to provide to the journal to learn more about us!

National Technical Staffing & Recruiting Solutions – AP Professionals provides project-based contract and direct hire Information Technology (IT) staffing, recruiting and payroll solutions across the USA since 1998.

Have you been a Business Journal Best Places to Work winner in the past and if so, how many times have you won? 

Yes, we have participated in the Phoenix Business Journal’s Best Places to Work competition since 2016. During this time, we have won high placements in our category each year. We have also participated in the Portland Business Journal’s Best Places to Work competition. We won high placements the last 2 years.

Describe your company culture in one word?

Supportive

Most successful workplace initiative or perk based on employee feedback:

Our most successful workplace perk based on employee feedback has been our outstanding benefit package offerings. For all those who choose to enroll, we provide 100% covered Healthcare Insurance through Highmark BlueCross BlueShield. This includes a prepaid deductible for our employees/consultants & their families.

What’s a cultural misstep your company has made, and how did you fix it? 

In our early years we looked for associates that had industry experience first and soft skills secondarily. We now only hire those with the soft skills and train them up on industry knowledge.

What’s a lesson you’ve learned from a competitor? 

Some of our competitors only focus on the needs of their clients. We find that we have two masters, our clients and our candidates. We have to meet the needs of both to have long term success.

Two things your company does to attract and/or retain talent: 

AP Professionals attracts and retains talent by implementing our mission statement each and every day – “Building Relationships that Last a Lifetime.” We implement this internally with our direct AP team by showing authentic team-building and understanding. We also implement this externally with our contractors and clients by providing both sides with specific support. This helps them each make the best decision possible for themselves or their company.

How does your company celebrate success? 

Success is celebrated with direct recognition, appreciation, potential for upward mobility, and monetary benefits. Recruitment at its core is a sales-based role. When done well, like our team does, it balances perfectly between benefiting the company and the individual. By accurately making placements that last long term, we are able to build our relationships with our clients and consultants. This, in turn, monetarily benefits the recruiter as well. These individual successes are recognized throughout the year. The overall company’s success is dependent on each individual’s success. This is celebrated as a team with a kick-off weekend at the start of each year.

One company goal for the year ahead: 

Our President has had the same goal for all 27 years of our incorporation. What does he need to do to have every member of our team develop new skills and improve on existing skills? Self-confidence and independence of each individual is the keystone to our success.

What is your company’s superpower when it comes to internal culture? 

AP Professional’s superpower when it comes to internal culture would have to be authentic connection. Overall, our internal team’s average tenure is 12 years. Each person on our team has the ability to make an authentic connection with anyone they come in contact with both internally and externally. Our internal team truly embraces our mission statement. They have all built relationships that will (and have) lasted a lifetime.

Top 5 Best Places to Work – 2022

AP Professionals – Named One of the Best Places to Work by the Phoenix Business Journal

We have (yet again) been recognized by the Phoenix Business Journal in the Top 5 best places to work in Phoenix in 2022! This year AP Professionals was up against some tough competition, but AP was ranked in the Top 5. AP Professionals landed in 4th place in the Micro Category! We have won this award for a total of 7 years in the past, 6 in a row. This recognition is an honor that we have been able to hold via the support of our amazing employees!

In mid-August, after collecting nominees, The Phoenix Business Journal sends out a qualitative survey to each employee asking them to anonymously evaluate their company on the below criteria:

  • Team effectiveness
  • Retention risk
  • Alignment with goals
  • Trust with co-workers
  • Individual contribution
  • Manager effectiveness
  • Trust in senior leaders
  • Feeling valued
  • Work engagement
  • People practices

After a month of collecting data, each company’s responses are reviewed, and a list of the best-of-the-best is created! Winners were awarded at an event held by the Phoenix Business Journal on Thursday last week. We will also be recognized in an article published shortly after the event.
